篇一：BELOW用法小结
基本意思 ：
一．adv. at/to a lower level. 作副词（对于词性问题，各家说法不一，有的认为是形容词，有人认为是副词，但是据笔者查阅后发现后者说法较多），表示位置/程度/低于……。位置在所修饰的词后面。如：
1． We saw the ocean below at that time. 当时我们看见了下面的大海。
2． The blue sea is seen far below. 在很远的地方看得见大海。
3． I heard a noise from the room below. 我听到噪音起自楼下房间。
4． He looked down from the mountain to the valley below.
他从山上朝下面的山谷看去。
二．prep. in a lower place than ; on a lower level than; underneath; 作介词，表示位置/程度/低于……。
1． Can you imagine that man is below sixty (years old)?
你能设想那个人还不到60岁吗？
2． He is below the average at school。. 他在学校是平均以下。
3． A captain in the army is below the a captain in the navy.
陆军上尉的军衔低于海军上尉。
4． The plane flew through a few yards below the bridge.
飞机从离桥下几码的地方穿过。
5． When we hurried there, the sun had already gone below the horizon.
我们赶到那儿时，太阳已经落到地平线下面了。
6． Shall I write my name on, above or below the line?
我把名字写在线的中间、上面还是下面？
三．相关的词组：
below one’s eyes 在眼下。under the bridge在桥下面；
below the bridge 在桥下方。
