The next year, for evading land reform, the whole family of biggest grandfather escaped to Qing Dao. With the withdrawing of Nationalist party, eighth uncle was missing. We hadn’t heard him for forty years. During the Great Cultural Revolution, our school had forced us to tell eighth uncle’s whereabouts, how could we know that? Afterwards, our school said eighth uncle had been a member of the national party, asked us to break up with him, but we still didn’t know whether he was alive or dead, but his influence bound our life, we couldn’t be happy anymore.
