⑥They often leave the child alone at home.他们经常让孩子一人在家。

.in charge主管, 掌管; 在...管辖之下, 由...照顾

sb is in charge of sth某人负责,掌管, 照顾sth is in the charge of sb /in one’s charge 在...掌管之下, 由...经管

2. The project is in the charge of Dr Green.

Dr Green is in charge of the project.

expect sb/sth.

expect that①我们谁也没预料这种情况。None of us expected it.

②我在等他的来信。I'm expecting his letter.

③ 不要对他期望太高. Don’t expect too much of him.

④你预计什么时候回来? When do you expect to be back?

⑤你别指望他会支持你。You can't expect him to support you.

⑥我想他会很快回来的。I expect that he’ll come back soon.

⑦ “她会不会来呢?”“我想会/不会。” “Will she come?” “I expect so/ not.”.deserve vt.值得,应得

1. 这文章值得仔细研究The article deserves careful study.

2.你如做错事, 应当受罚。If you do wrong, you deserve punishment.

3. 他们应该入狱. They deserved to be sent to prison.4. Have you been a good little boy or girl? Do you deserve a present from Santa Claus? 你们一直是好孩子吗?应从圣诞老人那里得到礼物吗?

5. One good turn deserves another. 以德报德.

She deserved a reward for her efforts/hard work.

他们的球队是这个国家最棒的,当然应该打赢这场比赛.

They are the best team in this country. They deserve to win the match.

.be hard on sb.对某人严厉,对某人苛刻

继母对白雪公主很苛刻

Stepmother is very hard on Snow White不要对一个10岁的孩子说这些话, 这对他来说太重了些.

Don’t say that to a ten-year-old boy. You are too hard on him.

16.now that= since “既然”, 放句首,表显而易见的原因.

1.既然大家都在, 我们就开始工作吧.

Relative pronouns: that, which, who, whom Whose

Relative adverbs: when, where, why

That / which 指物,作主语或宾语 (作宾语可省略can travel in space). who/that指人, 作主语或宾语 (作宾语可省略) An astronaut is a person (who/that works and travels in space). (who/that Harry porter met in space) is Yang Liwei .

whom指人, 作宾语 (可省略),比who作宾语更正式 (whom Harry porter met in space) is Yang Liwei .

whose指人或物, 作定语 (不可省略is Harry Potter. (1) 先行词为all, everything, nothing, anything, little, much 等不定代词时。 I am sure she has nothing (2)先行词被all, every, no, any, little, much等修时。

I’ve read all the books I’ve read every book (3)先行词被序数词或形容词最高级修饰时。

This is the first book This is the most interesting book that I have ever read.

4)先行词被the only, the very修饰时。

This is the very book 5)先行词既指人又指物时.
